Tottenham lining up late move to sign ‘one of the best strikers in the Premier League’

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up a late move to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

The Sun claims that Spurs are ready to make a late push to land Solanke for a fee worth over £50 million before tomorrow’s deadline. It comes after reports claimed earlier this month that Tottenham had already asked about signing the forward.

Bournemouth have already rebuffed interest from Newcastle after Eddie Howe’s side enquired about the striker this month.

It would take a ‘huge bid’ to tempt the Cherries into selling their star man. But Tottenham are apparently keen to test their resolve.

Tottenham lining up late move for Solanke

Sources have claimed that Spurs are ready to launch a £50 million-plus deal to sign Solanke ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

While The Sun claims Tottenham would have to pay big money to land the Englishman, Bournemouth have already started to look for potential replacements for the striker.

This is in the event that the South Coast outfit receive an offer that is ‘too good to refuse’.

Solanke has been in fine form this term, netting 12 goals in 20 Premier League games.

The 26-year-old has bagged the same number of goals as Spurs skipper Heung-Min Son in the league this season. Only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland have managed more.

His impressive form has led to high praise from his Bournemouth teammate Marcus Tavernier, who labelled Solanke as one of the best strikers in the league.

“I see it every day in training, his quality,” he told The Daily Echo. “I have no doubt when he is through one-on-one on goal he’s going to score.

“I’m more surprised when he misses them! He’s been great for us. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves sometimes, I feel like.

“I think he’s one of the best strikers in the league. Although he doesn’t get his recognition, being the club we are, I feel like he’s onto big things in the near future.”

Tottenham have previously been credited with an interest in Solanke but we’d be surprised if they moved for the striker ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.

After landing Timo Werner, Spurs are well-stocked in attack and have multiple options to to play through the middle.

While Ange Postecoglou may be keen to bring in a new striker further down the line, it doesn’t feel like a pressing concern for the Aussie right now.
