Tottenham Hotspur want ‘super-fast’ £75m striker after signing Archie Gray

Tottenham Hotspur sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer and this transfer window may be the time to finally land a new forward.

Ange Postecoglou is gearing up for another Premier League season but has some added commitments this time around.

Tottenham Hotspur have qualified for the Europa League and that means Tottenham need to invest in reinforcements.

Postecoglou won’t want to just have some fun in Europe; he will want to make a real push to win the competition.

Returning loanee Timo Werner could help that push but it may be a little too soon to expect Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to make big impacts.

Tottenham do need to invest in more first-team players and a striker is surely a priority for Spurs boss Postecoglou this summer.

Richarlison hasn’t quite kicked on as a top-level striker and Spurs now have targets in mind to bolster Postecoglou’s options.

Tottenham Hotspur want Lois Openda

Reports in recent days have suggested that Tottenham are prioritising the addition of a new forward as the ‘next big transfer’ this summer.

Just who Tottenham will go for in that role is unclear but a few names are emerging.

Sky Sports claim that RB Leipzig forward Lois Openda is wanted by Spurs and finds himself on the transfer wish list alongside Lille striker Jonathan David and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.

Links to Openda first started back in December with The Mirror reporting Tottenham’s interest back in December.

It was suggested that RB Leipzig would seek around £75million for Openda, just months after signing him for £35million from Lens.

That price tag may have only risen since then though as Openda finished his first Bundesliga campaign with 24 goals and seven assists in 34 Bundesliga games.

The Belgian is going from strength to strength right now and even caused problems at Euro 2024 despite predominantly being a substitute.

Tottenham will have been paying close attention and may yet chase a potential club-record deal for Openda this summer.

Openda has praised Tottenham

Spurs have already signed one RB Leipzig forward having taken Timo Werner on a new loan.

When Werner first joined Tottenham in January, Openda praised Tottenham as a ‘good team’ and backed Werner to shine in North London.

“We said goodbye and wish him all the best,” said Openda. “Tottenham is a good team in England. Timo will show his quality there, for sure,” he added.

Tottenham may be tempted to move for Openda too with the 24-year-old emerging as one of the top strikers in Europe in recent years.

Hailed as ‘super-fast’ by Rangers boss Philippe Clement, Openda has the pace to cause mayhem in a Postecoglou team.

A deal won’t be cheap and may take up most of Tottenham’s budget this summer, but it may be a deal worth chasing as Spurs look to add a real goalscorer to Postecoglou’s options.
