Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with new signings this summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his squad.

Ange Postecoglou is now heading towards his second season as Tottenham Hotspur boss.

Europea League football will be returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season and Postecoglou needs a squad capable of coping with the extra workload.

Archie Gray arrived from Leeds United last week and the belief is that Tottenham want a new forward as the ‘next big transfer’.

Spurs will be looking at a host of other potential signings though with fans expecting additions across the pitch.

Strikers and wingers will be on the radar but Postecoglou and co may yet move for another goalkeeper this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur lead race for Joan Garcia

Guglielmo Vicario impressed in his first season at Tottenham but does still have some work to do – especially on corners.

The Italian should be Tottenham’s first-choice stopper for a while but more competition may now be wanted.

Fraser Forster has plenty of experience but isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Vicario if Postecoglou wants to rotate.

Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman offer homegrown options but aren’t likely to push Vicario for first-team action any time soon.

That may leave Tottenham chasing another goalkeeper as real competition for Vicario.

Spanish outlet El Desmarque now report that Tottenham are ‘leading the way’ for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

It’s suggested that Arsenal and Real Madrid both want Garcia but it’s Spurs who are at the front of the queue.

Espanyol want the €25million (£21million) fee in Garcia’s release clause, or at least a fee close to that figure.

Who is Spurs target Garcia?

Garcia hails from Barcelona and has come up through the Espanyol ranks having joined as a teenager from Damm.

The 23-year-old impressed for the Espanyol B team before really nailing down a first-team spot last season.

Garcia helped Espanyol win promotion to La Liga and has picked up two caps for Spain’s Under-21 side.

Former Espanyol boss Luis Garcia praised stopper Garcia as ‘extraordinary’ last season and even predicted that he will become the future first-choice stopper for Spain.

Tottenham appear to have been impressed and could pounce to sign Garcia, reminiscent of the 2016 move to sign Pau Lopez from Espanyol too.

Lopez didn’t make an impact at Tottenham but Spurs would be looking for Garcia to really push Vicario if a deal can be thrashed out.
