The transfer window may have closed in England, but Tottenham Hotspur may yet be looking to move one more player on this summer.

Several transfer windows across the world are still open, and it looks like Tottenham gem Alfie Devine will be going out to play in one of those overseas leagues.

Alasdair Gold has reported this week that Devine is set to complete a season-long loan deal at Belgian outfit Westerlo, where Luka Vuskovic is currently playing.

This move appears to have split the Spurs fanbase, with some – including Gold himself – praising the move, and others slating it.

Here is what some Tottenham fans have been saying about what’s in store for Devine:

Who is Tottenham gem Alfie Devine?

Alfie Devine has been making waves at Tottenham since joining the academy from Wigan back in 2020.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder quickly outgrew Spurs’ U18s and U21s and soon became part of the first-team picture, with two competitive senior appearances to his name.

Last season, the decision was made to send Devine out on loan, initially playing for League One side Port Vale in the first half of last season.

Spurs recalled him in January and loaned him out to Championship side Plymouth, where he made nine starts and six substitute appearances.

Neil Dewsnip, the club’s director of football, hinted to the Plymouth Herald in May that he was keen on bringing Devine and Ashley Phillips back on loan.

However, nothing came of this, and now Devine looks set to make the move to Belgium’s top flight.

How are Westerlo doing?

Westerlo are currently fourth in the Belgian top flight, with three wins, a draw and two defeats from their opening six games.

Their next game after the international break is on Saturday 14 September, taking on Anderlecht away in a 7:45pm kick-off.
