A Tottenham Hotspur attacking target could be available for just £17 million during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are in need of fresh options in attack after Ange Postecoglou lacked depth in the final third last season.

Manor Solomon managed just six appearances in his debut season at Tottenham due to injuries, while Ivan Perisic headed out the door after picking up an ACL injury early in the campaign.

It left Postecoglou with limited options, particularly off the left-hand side, which was somewhat relieved by Timo Werner’s arrival in January.

The German forward’s loan has been extended by a further year but Spurs supporters will be hoping to see further additions out wide.

Marcus Edwards is the latest winger to be linked with a switch to Spurs, almost five years after leaving the club’s academy

The Sporting CP winger found himself out of Ruben Amorim’s starting XI during the second half of last season and as a result, he could be available at a cut price.

Marcus Edwards available for just £17m this summer

Edwards left Spurs back in 2019 as he completed a switch to Portuguese outfit Vitoria. The Englishman has since impressed in Portugal, earning a move to Sporting just two summers ago.

Edwards is said to be keen on a move back to Tottenham and the Lilywhites retain a 35 per cent sell-on clause in his contract.

A Bola has provided the latest on Spurs’ interest in Edwards and claim the 25-year-old is an attractive option due to his homegrown status.

It’s noted that Sporting are open to offloading the winger this summer and have set a price tag worth around 20 million euros [£17 million].

What Porro has said about Edwards amid Tottenham interest

While Tottenham fans will be more than familiar with Edwards after his time in north London, Porro may just know a little bit more about the winger’s qualities.

The duo lined up alongside each other for Sporting before Porro joined Spurs in January 2023.

In an interview with The Guardian just a couple of months after his switch to Tottenham, Porro described Edwards as an ‘extraordinary’ player.

Should Tottenham firm up their interest in Edwards, question marks will undoubtedly remain over his suitability to play under a manager like Postecoglou.

While there is no doubt about the winger’s quality, his time at Spurs ultimately came to an end after his loan spell at Norwich City was cut short, with then-manager Daniel Farke suggesting it was down to an attitude issue.

Edwards has since insisted he’s ‘grown up’ after leaving England and he would offer Spurs a profile they are lacking at the moment due to his ability to beat his man.

Last season, the winger racked up 44 appearances in Portugal, netting six times and providing nine assists.
