Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon has now provided the latest hint towards where his future may lie.

Sergio Reguilon has now spent the season away from Ange Postecoglou’s side on two separate loans within the Premier League.

The Spaniard will return to Hotspur Way at the end of the season with just one year remaining on his deal in N17.

Sergio Reguilon’s Tottenham future

Reguilon’s time in north London has been one which many will have expected a lot more from.

The 27-year-old joined in the same summer as Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, but his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium never really took off.

Amazingly, Reguilon has still been able to rack up 67 appearances for Spurs, but he has spent the last two years away on loan.

Speaking to The Times ahead of the summer, Reguilon has provided some insight as to where his future may lie.

“Who knows?” he said when asked about what next after his loan with Brentford.

“I think I’m a top player,” he added. “But you have to show it.”

Postecoglou’s full-back options

With just one year remaining on his deal, there will have already been question marks over the Spaniard’s future.

However, following some other comments made in the interview, it is hard to see a way back under Postecoglou’s watch.

The Australian has some solid options at left-back with Destiny Udogie showing promising signs of being a real threat down that side.

Udogie has already returned five goal contributions for Spurs in the Premier League this season.

And his back-up is the experienced Ben Davies who offers a more defensive-minded option for Postecoglou.

Udogie has seriously impressed Guglielmo Vicario this season and it is hard to see how Reguilon could uproot him from the starting XI.

And The Spurs News have even been told the club are looking to bring in a versatile full-back capable of playing on both sides this summer.

With this in mind, it’s hard to see how Reguilon could even work his way back into the squad.
