Tottenham Hotspur are eager to sign Palmeiras’ Luis Guilherme.

That’s according to 90min, who have reported that the Premier League club are ready to challenge the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich for his signature.

Guilherme joined Palmeiras’ academy in 2017 and signed his first professional contract last summer. The teenager went onto make his first team debut in April and has now become a regular in the Brazilian Serie A, making 15 appearances this year.

Guilherme’s impressive displays have caught the eye of a number of Europe’s elite, with many watching the youngster during their recent Copa Libertadores double-header against Boca Juniors.

The 17-year-old already represents Brazil at U-20 level and is particularly admirable due to his technical ability and rapid pace, clocking a top speed of 36.4km/h in the 2022 Copa do Brasil Sub-17 final against Vasco da Gama.

It is unclear how much Guilherme is valued at, but he will be entering the final 12 months of his contract next summer. The report claims the midfielder looks very likely to move to Europe soon, with Tottenham also competing with Brighton, Benfica, Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco in their pursuit.

Tottenham could do with their own exciting South American

Guilherme is clearly a huge prospect and could be the next big South American talent if he can be developed and nurtured properly with a European club.

If Spurs can snatch him up then that could be great news, with the North London outfit already having looked to the continent to bring in Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central this summer.

The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Julian Alvarez and Alejandro Garnacho are great examples of very promising young talents that have been brought over from South America, and it would be very exciting if Tottenham could do it themselves.
