‘My understanding’… Fabrizio Romano issues transfer update after player spoke about Tottenham’s interest

Tottenham Hotspur have recently seen defender Loic Bade speak out about the club’s interest in him.

As the summer transfer window begins to pull into focus, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on what he’s heard about Tottenham’s said interest.

Ange Postecoglou is looking to put his stamp on this Tottenham side having taken over at the helm in north London.

And the summer transfer window will provide the Australian with his third opportunity to do just that.

Tottenham’s interest in Loic Bade

Over the last couple of days, comments from the French defender have emerged as he has spoken about Tottenham’s interest in him.

“There is a small satisfaction for me. When a big club like Tottenham is interested, it’s because you do good things,” he said.

However, writing in his column for Caught Offside, Romano has provided his understanding of the situation: ‘Loic Bade could leave in the summer, it’s a possibility with a good proposal. Tottenham never opened talks for him in January, as far as I know; also they signed Radu Dragusin and they trust him for the future, so there’s no movement so far, that’s my understanding,’ he said.

Tottenham’s defensive options

Radu Dragusin was the big arrival at Hotspur Way over the January transfer window and Spurs fans are yet to really get to see him in action.

Spurs were in desperate need of defensive reinforcements after the suspension for Cristian Romero and long-term injury for Micky van de Ven.

But the Romanian’s arrival landed just as the centre-back pairing returned from their respective absences.

As a result, Dragusin is having to bide his time to earn his opportunity in Postecoglou’s starting XI.

This has seen the player’s own mother come out and speak about the need for patience over her son’s development at Tottenham.

With the 22-year-old’s situation in mind, it has to be questioned whether Tottenham’s ability to bring in further talent at centre-back may be hindered due to the quality already in that position.
