According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are set to secure the services of the 16-year-old midfielder until 2026.

It is said a number of European clubs wanted to sign him last summer, but Tottenham are keen to keep him around after seeing his development.

Long-term plans at Tottenham

Since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, it has become apparent the club are putting an emphasis on their stars for the future.

There are a number of youngsters in the U21s side who are knocking on the Australian’s door after an impressive season in the Premier League 2.

The likes of Will Lankshear and Jamie Donley have received a lot of praise this term for what they have been able to produce in the youth league.

The latter has featured under Postecoglou this season in the first-team, but minutes have been at a premium.

Nevertheless, it is apparent Spurs are looking to build for the future and that can even be seen in the first-team.

A lot of the arrivals since Postecoglou’s appointment are in their early twenties with the likes of Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin offering long-term options at the back.

And even the likes of Pape Matar Sarr – who was out of favour under Antonio Conte – is now being handed a huge role in the starting XI.

Although Spurs are struggling to bring youth players into the first-team squad, due to their current high levels of performance, the signs are there that there is plans for the future.
