Tottenham Hotspur could have the next Harry Kane and Heung-min Son partnership after what has just happened in their latest U21s game.

The youth side were playing in front of a Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd on Saturday as they faced Fleetwood Town in the Premier League Cup.

Two players, in particular, impressed as Spurs won in emphatic fashion thanks to the brilliance of Will Lankshear and Jamie Donley.

Tottenham U21s beat Fleetwood

It proved a fairly easy task for the north London side in beating Fleetwood as they found themselves 4-0 up at half time.

And the young striker, Lankshear, was able to pick up a first-half hat-trick with the help of Donley who was able to assist him on each occasion.

Reporting from N17, journalist Alasdair Gold took to X to suggest what huge talents Spurs could have on thier hands with the attacking duo, he said: ‘All three Spurs goals since Dane Scarlett’s opener have been Jamie Donley setting up Will Lankshear. The academy equivalent of Kane and Son? That would be nice.’

The game ended 6-0 to Spurs and Donley added another assist to his tally for the day.

Bright future for Spurs

Ange Postecoglou has a wide range of players who he could potentially look to if he is to consider adding some academy prospects to his first team squad.

Donley has already been involved with the first team having made three cameo appearances this term in the Premeir League.

The U21s have been in sensational form this term and look destined to get their hands on the Premier League 2 trophy.

They currently hold a four-point lead over second-placed West Ham United, but Spurs also have two games in hand on the Hammers.

A number of names are impressing during the 2023/24 campaign for the U21s and it is apparent Lankshear is one of those.

The youngster has recently been awarded the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for January and it seems he has had a helping hand from the brilliance of some of his teammates.

If Spurs can produce a partnership which can get anywhere near the levels of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son then they will have done extremely well.
