Tottenham Hotspur’s previous offer of £5m for winger Adama Traore was laughed off by Wolves.

The Lilywhites have had a long-standing interest in the Spaniard over recent years and looked to bring him in multiple times.

However, it was their loan offer to the Midlands club which saw Daniel Levy left red-faced after his offer was knocked back.

Tottenham interest in Adama Traore

According to The Athletic, Spurs put forward a loan offer to bring Traore to north London with a £5m fee for Wolves.

But this offer was simply laughed off by the Old Gold and they later agreed on a short-term loan deal with Barcelona in 2022.

Traore’s return to the Camp Nou was not one which worked out for the 28-year-old as he quickly returned back to Molineux in the summer.

He now finds himself playing for Fulham after leaving Wolves in the summer.

Tottenham’s attacking options

For many, Tottenham’s interest in Traore may have sparked more questions than it would have solved.

The Spaniard has some incredibly physical attributes, but for a side like Spurs who want to play Champions League football, he simply doesn’t have the pedigree in attack.

It has to be said, Traore is perhaps one of the best athletes the Premier League has ever seen.

However, in just under 200 games for Wolves across all competitions, he returned a mere 14 goals and 20 assists.

That is simply not good enough for a player who would be playing for a side who are pushing at the top end of the table.

Pep Guardiola did say that the Spaniard was ‘impossible‘ to stop in the past. This may be true, but when he is in an attacking position, he struggles massively with his end product.

Some are already questioning the end product of Timo Werner who has a solid goal and two assists since joining.

So who knows what would have been said if Traore arrived at Spurs and provided what he did at Wolves.
