The agent of Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga has admitted the 24-year-old would consider a move to Napoli this summer.

Japhet Tanganga has spent the season away from Spurs on two different loan deal, the latest seeing him play for Millwall.

He will return to Hotspur Way in the summer with just one year remaining on his current deal and questions over his future.

Japhet Tanganga’s Tottenham future

It quickly became apparent that the 24-year-old was not in the plans of Ange Postecoglou following his appointment in the summer.

His first loan spell at Augsburg provided the Englishman with zero minutes of football which then saw him return before heading off to the Championship.

This has been a better spell for the defender with regular football on offer in the second tier.

And ahead of the summer, his agent has been speaking to the Italian media about a potential move to Serie A, he said: “I don’t really like talking about one of my clients.”

“He has a particular contract with Tottenham, who can exercise the option for another year, otherwise he will be free. We should wait for a date to see what happens.

“How can you not consider Napoli? The player was close to Milan a year and a half ago. Naples is a top club on a national and international level. Should there be any interest we would be happy.”

Tanganga’s Millwall loan

Unlike his spell in the Bundesliga earlier this season, this move to The Den is one which is actually benefitting the defender.

He has already been able to rack up nine appearances in the Championship since January and has even netted two goals.

His displays have even seen manager Neil Harris hail him “outstanding” for his recent displays since his arrival.

This loan spell may have done both Tanganga and Spurs a big favour ahead of the summer.

Postecoglou showed no signs of giving him a chance to prove himself after being appointed in the summer.

So it would probably be fair to suggest Tanganga’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is under serious doubt.

With this in mind, his recent displays for Millwall will only be doing his and Tottenham’s chances of a summer sale the world of good.

And if he can land a move to a club the size of Napoli, then good luck to him.
