Tottenham interested in Dani Rodriguez

According to Mundo Deportivo, who have pictured the youngster’s agent at a Spanish restaurant meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

It is suggested the agent is currently working on getting the best terms possible for the midfielder with Barcelona keen to keep him.

This all comes just a matter of days after reports emerged claiming Spurs were keen on bringing the 18-year-old to Hotspur Way in the summer.

The report even suggested the Spanish giants were fearful of Tottenham being able to come and take one of their young prosepcts.

Rodriguez has been hailed by talent scout Jakob Kulig as ‘extremely dangerous‘ in counter attacks due to his pace.

Tottenham’s long-term plans

One arrival is already set for the summer with another 18-year-old, Lucas Bergvall, set to join up with his new side.

The Swede signed for Spurs in the January transfer window, but returned to his homeland for the remainder of the campaign.

It is signings like this and interest in players such as Rodriguez which shows the emphasis which is now being put on the long-term success of the club.

Under the likes of Antonio Conte, players such as Pape Matar Sarr were unable to flourish as the Italian did not offer him the opportunity to do so.

This couldn’t be any further from the case with Postecoglou at the helm.

And what is encouraging to see is that Spurs are not spending like some of their rivals who are forking out £100m+ for players.

The signing of Bergvall was something which may have shocked Europe as the 18-year-old chose Spurs over Barcelona.

But that only goes to show how encouraging the future looks in north London.
