Tottenham Hotspur just about edged past Coventry City in the Carabao Cup third round as they came from behind to win in the Midlands.
Brennan Johnson netted a late 92-minute winner against the Championship side to save Ange Postecoglou’s blushes.
For the majority of the tie, Spurs looked thoroughly underwhelming as they failed to muster a single shot in the first half.
Mark Robins’ side took the lead just after the hour mark as the Lilywhites looked set for another shocking cup exit to lower-league opposition.
However, on came the cavalry, with Dejan Kulusevski teeing up Djed Spence to score the equaliser before Johnson nicked it late on with an exquisite finish.
But whilst Johnson scored the winner, it was the performance of Kulusevski that swung the tie in the favour of Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham must the team around Kulusevski
16 minutes was all Kulusveski needed to change the game for Tottenham. The 24-year-old came on to replace the injured Timo Werner in the 74 minute.
The forward was once again used in a central role that Postecoglou now sees as his best position and he was quick to make an impact.
Werner and Johnson hadn’t provided nearly enough creativity for Tottenham but straight away Kulu came into the action and made things happen.
The Swedish international then set up Spence’s equaliser with an incredible pass around the corner allowing the full-back to take the ball in his stride and touch it home.
Kulusevski has impressed for club and country this season following an underwhelming 2023/24 campaign. But he’s already shown more than enough this term and across his Spurs career to highlight why Postecoglou must build his team around him.
Pep Guardiola loves Dejan Kulusevski
Kulusevski is a player that has a big admirer in Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola. After his City side drew 3-3 with Spurs, the coach was left in awe of the winger, stating, “Kulusevski, what a player!” The Swede netted a late equaliser against his team.
He has become a bit of a thorn in the side of Guardiola having produced five direct goal contributions in five appearances against the Premier League champions.
