One big decision Ange Postecoglou made in the summer is now coming back to bite him after his team were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth.
Spurs limped to a defeat on the South Coast as Dean Huijsen’s first-half header proved the decisive moment as the young defender netted his first Premier League goal. Ange Postecoglou was missing several key players, however, his team looked well off it once again as the pressure mounts on the Australian manager.
Postecoglou was booed by the away end which might just signify the beginning of the end for him at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. One of his biggest problems came back to haunt him against Bournemouth as the club’s injury crisis became even worse.

Tottenham’s failure to sign a centre-back is costing them
Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham’s decision not to sign a central defender in the summer is now really starting to hurt the team. Spurs were already down to the bare bones in defence against Bournemouth and lost Ben Davies to injury on the South Coast.
The drop-off in quality from Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to Radu Dragusin and Davies is just too big for Postecoglou’s team to keep up any sort of consistency. Regardless of Dragusin and Davies keeping a clean sheet at Man City, the Lilywhites needed much better quality to come in for their injured first-choice pairing.
The North London club should have learned from last season that Romero and Van de Ven are both susceptible to injury and another defender was required. The Argentine has been sidelined for the last four matches, meanwhile, Van de Ven has missed seven games.

Will Tottenham sign a defender in January?
Tottenham must address this issue in the January transfer window and to find out whether they will, The Spurs News exclusively spoke to transfer insider Graeme Bailey of TBR Football. Bailey stated that Tottenham have always been targeting another centre-back in January regardless of the injuries which they have suffered.
Bailey told The Spurs News: “We knew they wanted a fourth centre-back anyway. They need to cover themselves if those two [Romero and Van de Ven] are out. They’ve always been looking for extra cover. Obviously Dragusin and Davies are there now but they’ve always wanted that other centre-back. I think the injuries have only highlighted they are right in their assessment of the squad.”
