Guglielmo Vicario equalled an unwanted joint-record for Tottenham Hotspur against Ipswich Town as the goalkeeper conceded twice in the defeat.
Ange Postecoglou’s team missed the chance to move into third place in spectacular fashion and instead handed Ipswich their first Premier League win since 2002.
First-half goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap were enough for Kieran McKenna’s men to clinch three points and climb out of the bottom three for the first time this season.
After the game, an alarming statistic emerged highlighting the rate at which Tottenham are continuing to leak goals in the Premier League. It could now be time for Postecoglou to copy one major decision Mikel Arteta took at Arsenal.

Guglielmo Vicario has just three home Premier League clean sheets
Vicario has now managed to keep just three clean sheets across his first 25 starts at home in the Premier League, according to BBC Sport. The Italian is now joint with Ian Walker for the fewest home clean sheets across that number of matches for Tottenham.
The 28-year-old has proven himself to be a strong shot-stopper and has good distribution, however, there are too many areas of his game which just let him down. Vicario’s inability to command his area and weaknesses on set pieces have become a major issue for Spurs and something opponents are now targeting.
This was an issue Arteta found with Aaron Ramsdale at Arsenal, he was a good goalkeeper but there were too many areas of his game which let him down. Eventually, despite much criticism, the Spanish manager replaced Ramsdale with David Raya and the Gunners have never looked back.
Vicario has not been helped by his defence but one of Tottenham’s next transfer priorities needs to be finding a more dependable goalkeeper as they cannot continue to concede goals at such a rate. Last season they conceded a staggering 61 goals in the Premier League.
Tottenham are already targeting a new goalkeeper
That hunt for a new goalkeeper has already commenced with the North London club looking to sign competition for Vicario, according to Football.London.
Spurs want a shot-stopper who is capable of pushing the Italian international for his spot in Postecoglou’s team. Currently, Fraser Forster is the alternative to Vicario and the 36-year-old has been a disaster when called upon by Postecoglou.
The Lilywhites will look in January at the possibility of signing a new goalkeeper but this is likely to be an issue the club addresses next summer.
