Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou could decide to drop Dejan Kulusevski on Sunday for Brennan Johnson.

A massive game awaits the Lilywhites at Villa Park with both sides making their case for a top four finish this term.

However, Ange Postecoglou may be left with a serious decision to make on the left-wing after the last outing against Crystal Palace.

Dejan Kulusevski stats

Dejan Kulusevski has had a solid season in a Spurs shirt with a return of six goals and two assists in the Premier League.

However, the Swede is on a bit of a drought in front of goal with just one goal coming since the middle of December.

He was able to score in the recent defeat against Wolves the other week, but his last goal came all the way back before Christmas.

Spurs signed Kulusevski from Juventus for a fee in the region of £25m which has proved extremely good value considering he has already returned 31 goal involvements.

Brennan Johnson stats vs Crystal Palace

In need of some inspiration from the bench, Postecoglou replaced Rodrigo Bentancur with Brennan Johnson.

And that is exactly what the Welshman provided Tottenham as he returned two assists in less than 30 minutes of action.

As substitute appearances go, it was a pretty impressive display from the 22-year-old, but it was not perfect.

Johnson did have a great opportunity to add a goal to his name, but he was unable to find the target.

However, he did earn the praise of Heung-min Son after the game who said the winger was “fantastic‘ when he came on off the bench.

His influence off the bench was certainly enough to question whether he should be in the starting XI for the game on Sunday.

But it also has to be questioned whether Johnson can provide the same influence from the start, or whether he is better off capitalising on tired legs from the bench.

Johnson’s last two goals in a Spurs shirt came as a substitute.

His recent form is certainly trending in a better direction than that of Kulusevski, but Sunday is a huge game for Spurs and Postecoglou needs to nail his starting XI selection.
