Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Ange Postecoglou ahead of the North London derby.

When asked what he thinks about the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, the Spaniard admitted that he ‘really likes him’.

Arteta was appointed Arsenal manager in 2019 and has come up against three different permanent Spurs counterparts in Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.

Tottenham have claimed three wins in Arteta’s tenure, while Arsenal have four victories to their name. However, only one of Spurs’ wins have come in their last five meetings.

The arrival of Postecoglou and their brilliant start to the campaign, that has left them second in the Premier League table, will give them a huge boost as they prepare to take on the Gunners.

It is the first time in a while that both North London teams have both been at the top of their game and Arteta has already recognised that it will be a very tough match this weekend.

Ange Postecoglou has ‘changed the vibe’ at Tottenham

Speaking in his pre-match press conference when asked about Postecoglou, Arteta said: “They have a new manager that has done really really well and I think he’s changed the vibe and everything around the club. I really like him. I know players that always speak really really highly of him.

“You can tell straight away that he’s fitting in in the right way. That’s the beauty of this league that we have. Top top managers, tough competition and every game is very difficult.”

Arsenal currently sit behind Tottenham on goal difference, while both teams could potentially go top of the table if they win on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Man City will host Nottingham Forest in their bid to keep hold of the top spot.

Fans will be expecting a brilliant showing from both clubs this weekend as they look to continue their impressive unbeaten starts. While Arsenal challenged for the title last year, it has been a while since there has been such positivity and excitement at Spurs.
