Heung-min Son has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Tottenham Hotspur leaving fans concerned about his future.
Son has grown to become not only a key part of Spurs on the pitch but also off it with his commercial value to the North London club now massive.
Last summer, Ange Postecoglou appointed him as captain of the team highlighting how central he is to Tottenham’s plans.
The 32-year-old is now in his tenth season in N17 and the Lilywhites will be hoping he will spend his final few seasons at the top at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His contract situation needs sorting with less than a year remaining, however, Spurs are relaxed about the situation and here’s why.

Tottenham one-year extension option in Son’s contract
Tottenham have a one-year extension option written into Son’s current deal with the club, according to Football.London. So despite the worry of his contract entering its final 12 months, the North London club still have security over his future.
Both parties would need to agree to the extension but that is unlikely to cause any issues with the South Korean relishing his role as captain.
His brace against Everton demonstrated why even though he is now in his 30s, he remains one of the league’s most feared attackers. Last season, the forward netted 17 goals and got 10 assists in the league.
Tottenham already have the perfect Son replacements
When the club captain eventually does depart, Tottenham will be hoping that young wingers like Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Yang Min-hyeok will be the heirs to his throne.
Moore has just recently signed his first pro contract with the club and is seen as the jewel of Spurs’ academy.
Odobert has much to prove in North London, but the early signs are promising following his first two cameos in a Spurs shirt.
Yang will link up with Postecoglou’s squad in January following his arrival from Gangwon over the summer. The winger has been impressing in the K-League and is viewed in South Korea as Son’s successor for the national team.
