Whether Pedro Porro, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma will play for Tottenham v Everton

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for their second Premier League game of the season as Everton come to town.

Spurs will be playing their first competitive home game of the season, and the N17 faithful will be expecting a better display than they served up on Monday night.

Tottenham got their season under way at newly-promoted Leicester City, and for a while everything was going to plan in the East Midlands.

Spurs were rampant from the off and could’ve easily scored multiple goals in the first half at the King Power Stadium.

However, Tottenham spurned multiple opportunities and, as it turned out, one goal wasn’t enough as Leicester struck back and claimed a point.

Now, Ange Postecoglou’s charges will be eager to make amends against an Everton side that also has a point to prove after the first matchweek.

Sean Dyche’s charges lost 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion, so they’ll want to deliver a much-improved performance at N17.

On Friday, Ange Postecoglou revealed which players are expected to miss on the game, and who is set to come back into the fold.

Dominic Solanke

The biggest news involves summer signing Dominic Solanke, who played against Leicester but will now miss out against Everton due to an ankle injury.

“Dominic picked up a knock in the last game,” the Tottenham website quotes Postecoglou as saying about the striker.

“He got through the game, but he flared up the day after and he’ll miss tomorrow.”

Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur was involved in a clash of heads in the Leicester game that seemingly left him unconscious. He received treatment on the pitch for close to 10 minutes.

The Tottenham ace subsequently left on a stretcher and received oxygen, though he did appear to sit up just before being stretchered off the pitch.

Luckily, Bentancur is on the mend, but Postecoglou made it clear he was not taking any chances with the midfielder. He won’t play against Everton.

“Irrespective of concussion protocols, any head injury we’ve always got to be more conservative from my perspective,” said the Spurs boss.

“He’s bounced back really well, he’s done all the tests and feels good but we’ll take our time with Rodrigo to make sure he’s absolutely 100 per cent before we put him out there again.

“It’s unfortunate for Rodrigo as he had a good game on Monday night.”

Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma was suspended for Monday night’s game due to disciplinary reasons.

Postecoglou confirmed that he’s available, but he stressed that the bridge-building is still under way, and made it clear that he has other options.

“Biss is available, but we have got some options there,” football.london quotes the Spurs boss as saying.

“I guess the whole idea of trying to bulk up the squad this off season was about these kinds of scenarios.

When pressed about Bissouma rebuilding trust, Postecoglou said: “He is available for selection, the bridge building continues.”

Pedro Porro

Pedro Porro suffered a foot injury against Leicester which eventually forced him off, but he’s good to go against the Toffees.

Postecoglou didn’t seem concerned, saying: “Yeah he’s fine mate. He’s trained.”

Richarlison

Richarlison carried an injury into the close season, but he is also available for selection against his former employers.

However, Postecoglou suggested that he would be taking his time with the Brazil striker, as he hasn’t played for a long time.

“Richy has trained for two weeks,” said the Spurs boss. “He’s ready to go.

“Obviously hasn’t played for quite a while which you’ve got to [take into account] but he’s available and ready to go.”
