Will Lankshear suffered an unfortunate hamstring injury during Tottenham Hotspur Under-21’s win over Bristol Rovers.

Spurs won away at Bristol Rovers on penalties in the Football League Trophy following a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Memorial Stadium.

Lankshear opened the scoring for Tottenham, assisted by Mikey Moore, with a wicked strike from outside the area. Moore particularly impressed during the cup tie.

However, the 19-year-old was forced off towards the end of the game on August 20 due to an injury. Lankshear has been working with the first-team squad this season and the injury will come as a huge frustration.

But in better news, his hamstring issue doesn’t appear to be too serious and Tottenham fans have been told when the striker is due back.

Will Lankshear expected to return after international break

Lankshear is expected to return from injury after the intentional break following a short spell on the sidelines.

The teenager is likely to have been on the bench away at Newcastle United with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison both injured.

All three strikers are set to now return within the next week or so handing Ange Postecoglou a major boost.

Gold said on YouTube: “32 goals last season, I think he missed one game for the Under-21s last season. He did it for the Under-21s against Bristol Rovers in the Football League Trophy.

“He would have been on the bench [against Newcastle], I’m pretty certain, especially given the way Postecoglou has spoken about him.

“Will Lankshear, hamstring injury. But I think a lot of players that first experience the Postecoglou way, the incredible intense training sessions that they go through I think that’s going to happen to begin with.

“Thankfully for Will, it’s only minor, I think he’s expected to be back by the end of the international break, that is the idea.”

Tottenham really missed a striker vs Newcastle

Tottenham desperately missed both Solnake and Richarlison as they created a hateful of chances but failed to make their dominance pay.

Postecoglou’s team had 20 attempts at goal but netted just once and even the goal was Dan Burn sticking it in his own net. Spurs had 50 touches in the home penalty area but lacked a cutting edge to find the back of the net.

Postecoglou will be desperate for his new record signing to return for the North London derby after the international break with the team’s need for a striker very evident.
