Archie Gray is gearing up for his first competitive game in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt as the North London club face Leicester City.

Spurs have been made to wait until the final fixture of the first gameweek to kick off their campaign but are now ready to get the new season underway.

Archie Gray enjoyed an impressive pre-season with his new club and he will be hoping to continue that form into the new Premier League.

The midfielder featured in all of the Lilywhite’s friendlies over the summer and his assured performances left the club’s supporters excited to see more.

Tottenham were forced to fork out around £40 million to secure his services, however, the club’s staff have given an early but exciting verdict on the teenager.

Tottenham staff rave about Archie Gray

Staff at Hotspur Way have been ‘absolutely raving’ about Gray following his big move from Elland Road, according to Paul O’Keefe.

Tottenham had to beat off competition from Brentford and Chelsea after the 18-year-old played a major role in helping Leeds reach the play-off final.

The South Yorkshire club fell just short of promotion in the end but the youngster’s performances across the year saw him attract major top-flight interest.

Spurs were the ones to act the most decisive in capturing his signature and the club ‘can’t believe’ the talent they now have on their hands.

Not only does Gray have fantastic footballing ability but he also has a tremendous attitude and work ethic.

Despite having yet to make a single Premier League appearance, he is already being tipped for an eventual England call-up.

Tottenham’s best midfield configuration

Ange Postecoglou now faces the tricky task of selecting Tottenham’s best midfield trio for their trip to Leicester on August 19.

Despite the club still in the market for another midfielder, the Australian has a plethora of midfield options to select from.

For the curtain opener against Leicester, he is likely to pick his three most experienced stars.

James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr are likely to be his midfield three, given Yves Bissouma is suspended.

But long term that could certainly change with Gray and Lucas Bergvall both emerging as two of the club’s best young talents.

The 18-year-old duo have shown so much promise since arriving over the summer and could displace Spurs’ current midfield starters.
