Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

On Saturday morning, the likes of David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano claimed that Solanke had completed his Spurs medical and signed the contract.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of the England international and it looks like he’ll be getting his man.

Indeed, according to football.london, Tottenham could potentially announce Solanke in front of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd on Saturday.

With Spurs set to get themselves one of the Premier League’s most in-form strikers from last season, there has been a lot of discussion in the sports media.

Here is what a number of talkSPORT pundits have been saying about the prospect of Solanke linking up with the Lilywhites.

Pundits excited about Tottenham signing Dominic Solanke

For the most part, the pundits who have spoken about Solanke and Tottenham seem excited about what he’ll bring to Postecoglou’s team.

“I think he (Solanke) is a better option (than Richarlison),” Gabriel Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT (9/8/24, 11:23am).

“I think Solanke last season scoring 19 goals, no offence to Bournemouth, for a Bournemouth team, I think that is great form from Solanke.

“And I think with Son either side, Kulusevski or Johnson on the other side, I think they will be more of an attacking threat with Solanke down the middle than Richarlison.”

Meanwhile, Darren Bent said (talkSPORT, 9/8/24, 4:47pm): “I like him. Good signing. We felt that Spurs needed a centre-forward. It’s a centre-forward that’s different.

“We have had Kane, but you have got someone there, the way Ange wants to play that kind of like front foot, pace, imagine him down the middle and Son on the side.

“Great signing, lot of pace.”

And Tony Cascarino has said (talkSPORT, 10/8/24, 7:36am): “Last year was a standout season for him. Fantastic. He really was great.

“He is ready for a big move. He is way more versatile and he looks like he has, I use the expression, manned up, physically, and now he is 26, nearly 27, he now is a much more complete player.

“So it’s a great signing in many ways.”

Postecoglou has the Midas touch

Tottenham have been without an out-and-out No. 9 since Harry Kane left last year, so it’s great to see a high-quality, Premier League-proven and experienced striker come to Spurs.

Postecoglou has a solid reputation for striking gold in the transfer market time and time again, so it’ll be exciting to see how Solanke fares in navy and white.
