Robbie Savage has applauded James Maddison as one of the three best players in the Premier League this season.
Speaking to TEAMtalk, the pundit claimed the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had also been the best signing of the summer.
After netting 10 goals and providing nine assists last season, Maddison looked destined for an immediate return to the Premier League following Leicester City’s relegation.
With only a year left on his contract, Tottenham managed to snap him up in what looks to be a bargain £40 million deal.

The 26-year-old has already bagged two goals and five assists in only eight league games this season and was unsurprisingly named as August’s Player of the Month following a stellar start.
With Spurs currently sat top of the Premier League, Maddison has arguably been the club’s most important player. Alongside Ollie Watkins and Dominic Szoboszlai, Savage has claimed the Tottenham star has been the Premier League’s very best.
“You have to look at the way Spurs have started the season, top of the Premier League, and I think the signing of James Maddison was fantastic,” Savage told TEAMtalk.
“He’s got five assists in the Premier League and two goals; the way he plays, the way the team are playing, the way Big Ange has implemented his style on Spurs, but Maddison is instrumental into the way they play. What a signing he’s been; value for money, he’s been the best signing of the summer.”
Maddison has exceeded very high expectations
Everyone knew James Maddison was a brilliant player and that was shown by the numerous calls for him to earn a regular place in England’s squad at the World Cup. However, he was amazed everyone with how brilliant he has been in the months since his arrival in North London.

While Heung-min Son has also enjoyed a quality start and they are also boosted by brilliant performances from the likes of Yves Bissouma and Destiny Udogie, it is Maddison that has had the biggest impact on the squad.
The midfielder only turns 27 years old next month and still has plenty of time to improve, while Ange Postecoglou seems like the right man to get the very best out of him.
Tottenham fans will be delighted to have such a player at their club and hopefully he can stick around for years to come and put his name in the history books.
