Tottenham Hotspur are building a team of absolute superstars under Ange Postecoglou.
The likes of Son Heung Min, Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma have all been electric thus far this season, but one man who’s been brought in has seemed to transform the side.
That man is James Maddison. The 26-year-old joined came to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from relegated side Leicester for £40m – which is looking like a bit of a steal right now.
He’s been amongst the Premier League’s top performers since arriving in the summer. However, a statistic reveals he’s always well up there amongst Europe’s top players as well.

James Maddison is mixing with the best in Europe
Maddison is joint top of the pile for the most assists in Europe’s major leagues this season so far.
The English playmaker has already registered four assists, not to mention the two goals he’s picked up along the way.
These assists have contributed greatly to Tottenham‘s unbeaten start to the campaign, which also puts the squad as a whole right there with Europe’s elite sides.
We’ll reiterate – Maddison is joint top, so who joins him?
Players on four assists so far this season
Maddison joins an elite list of names on four assists this season, including:
- Caio Henrique – AS Monaco
- Largie Ramazani – Almeria
- Saul Niguez – Atletico Madrid
- Savio – Girona
- Marcus Thuram – Inter Milan
- Pedro Neto – Wolves
- Julian Brandt – Borussia Dortmund
- Chris Fuhrich – Stuttgart
- Kieran Trippier – Newcastle United
- Mohamed Salah – Liverpool
- Alex Baena – Villarreal
Some star-studded names on there. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Kieran Trippier and Pedro Neto also join the Spurs superstar from the Premier League, but major European talents such as Marcus Thuram and Julian Brandt also feature.
Let’s hope Maddison can keep his fine form up and, who knows, maybe by the end of the season he’ll be the sole victor at the top of the pile.
