James Maddison has been an absolute revelation for Tottenham Hotspur this season.
The England international was arguably the best player in the Premier League before his injury, never mind just the Tottenham Hotspur squad.
The manager and the coaching staff eagerly anticipated his return – and he made it against Manchester City in the FA Cup defeat.
However, Maddison isn’t the only talent coursing through Tottenham’s ranks. Ange Postecoglou has a team of sensations, including Pape Matar Sarr – who will be returning to Hotspur Way shortly.

James Maddison loves Pape Matar Sarr
Sarr has been one of the biggest shocks of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – in the best possible way.
The Senegalese midfielder is an absolute workhorse in midfield and has solidified himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet.
That’s why when it was revealed he was heading to AFCON – Spurs knew they’d be losing a valuable asset.
Senegal took on Ivory Coast last night, with the game heading to dreaded penalties. Sarr played the entire 120 minutes and had a fan watching on from home.
That fan came in the form of Maddison, who posted the following message on Instagram:
‘Supporting my boyyy @pape_matar_sarr_15. What a player,’ followed by the Senegal flag.

However, unfortunately, Maddison may have been a bit of a bad omen for Sarr.
Pape Matar Sarr is heading home from AFCON
Sarr unfortunately crashed out on penalties against the hosts on Monday night.
It was a well-contested encounter, that went the full distance. Sarr’s side had the dream start when Habibou Mouhamadou Diallo scored in the 4th minute, and it was a lead held until the 88th – when a Franck Kessie penalty equalised.
Penalties were to be the fate on the night, to which Moussa Niakhaté of Senegal missed the crucial one, giving the Côte d’Ivoire the win and a pass to the Quarter Finals.
Gutting for Sarr – but there’s a silver lining for Spurs.
When is Pape Matar Sarr available for Tottenham again after AFCON exit?
Pape Matar Sarr will now be returning home early for Tottenham. He will likely fly out in the next couple of days to North London.
He will miss the clash against Brentford but could be in contention to play at some point against Everton on the 3rd of February 2024.
However, this is a quick turnaround – so we reckon he will return fully the following week against Wolves.
