‘Very impressive’: BBC Pundit absolutely amazed by Micky van de Ven in Tottenham win over Luton

Tottenham picked up a very important 1-0 victory against Luton in the Premier League and BBC pundit Garth Crooks has piled the praise on summer signing Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham now go into the international break top of the Premier League and this will no doubt be a surprise to many.

Ange Postecoglou is doing a great job in his first season at Spurs and this was proven by the fact that the club managed to get the win despite having ten men for the entire second half.

Yves Bissouma was sent off after a needless dive, but the club managed to still beat Luton away from home. Micky van de Ven was key, picking up the only goal in the match.

The Dutch centre-back signed for Spurs in the summer for a deal worth around £34m and has settled in straight away.

BBC Sports pundit Crooks placed the defender in his team of the week following his top performance against Luton. Praising the player on BBC Sport, Crooks said: “The newly appointed Tottenham manager has certainly put a lot of faith in Micky van de Ven. The 22-year-old Dutch defender certainly looks very impressive at this level and took his goal brilliantly.

“Ange Postecoglou seems to trust his players to get the job done and it’s worked so far. The Australian seemed to be the coolest man in the ground. His calm demeanour is clearly having a positive effect on his players.”

It was great to see van de Ven scoring the winning goal and also picking up a clean sheet for Spurs against Luton and he should be very proud of his performance.

Micky van de Ven could be a signing of the season for Tottenham

Since joining the club, the 22 year-old has started all eight games, keeping three clean sheets and scoring one goal. He has been a huge reason for Tottenham now being top of the Premier League.

If van de Ven to continues to perform at such a high level every week the he could no doubt be the Player of the Season for Spurs come May and also be one of the Premier League signings of the season.
