Wales secured a major win over Montenegro in the Nations League and Tottenham’s Ben Davies produced a defensive masterclass.

The Tottenham Hotspur defender is entering his tenth season at the club and has been a superb servant during that time.

The 31-year-old has been in and out of the team in N17 during that time but has remained the model professional when called upon.

For the Welsh national team, he remains a stalwart in their defence and was key in helping them secure a 2-1 win on September 9.

Supporters were left stunned by Davies’ display against Montenegro and have been full of praise for the Welsh vice-captain.

Ben Davies’ ‘unreal’ display for Wales

The former Swansea man was superb for Wales as he produced three clearances, one off the line, three block attempts, two interceptions and two tackles. Davies also impressed the media against Turkey.

After the game, Wales supporters took to X to share their admiration for the defender’s performance and called for him to be playing more club football.

One fan said: “Ben Davies is unreal man. The only player that read the play and got back on the line… Every time Wales needs him, he’s there. Not many players like him anymore.”

“Say what you like about Ben Davies but he puts his body on the line every Game, he was yet again brilliant for Wales last night,” another supporter added.

Should Ben Davies have moved on from Tottenham for regular minutes?

Davies could be set for a tricky season with limited minutes as the defender is going to struggle to get into the team over Destiny Udogie.

The defender could get game time in the Europa League, however, getting consistent minutes looks unlikely for him.

He remains a dependable squad player for Ange Postecoglou but is unlikely to ever get a proper run in the team.

Given he is now in his 30s, it may have been in his best interests to have gone in search of regular minutes during the transfer window. Davies has been linked with a move to Galatasaray with the Turkish window still open.
