Tottenham Hotspur have made quite a name for themselves in recent years when it comes to turning exciting prospects into stars.

The likes of Pape Matar Sarr, Destiny Udogie arrived at Spurs as relative unknowns on these shores and have become established Premier League players.

More recently, the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have shown huge potential at Tottenham and could be next in line.

And then there are the academy graduates. The likes of Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear have shown great promise and could well become stars.

Now, Paul O’Keefe has spoken about a Spurs youngster who has been deemed “as good as Moore”, and the Lilywhites’ intentions for him.

The Tottenham expert told fans on X that Spurs are “prepared to go to huge lengths to keep him” and are planning to offer him a professional contract.

Tottenham plan to push the boat out to keep Luca Williams-Barnett

The player in question is Luca Williams-Barnett, one of the best youngsters in Tottenham’s academy.

O’Keefe welcomed the 16-year-old’s inclusion in the Spurs matchday squad for the Europa League trip to Galatasaray.

When asked by a fan whether Williams-Barnett could go professional at Tottenham, O’Keefe said “that’s the plan”.

O’Keefe then said “Spurs are prepared to go to huge lengths to keep him” and, when asked whether he’s as Moore, he replied “yes, but he’s 16 so a long way to go yet”.

Williams-Barnett was an unused substitute as Spurs fell to a 3-2 loss to Galatasaray, a game in which numerous N17 players flattered to deceive.

Luca Williams-Barnett style of play

Back in March, the Evening Standard named Williams-Barnett in their list of London’s top 50 youth footballers.

They wrote: “An attacking midfielder who typically plays from the left wing and is already known for his skills, dribbling and spectacular finishing.

“Regarded a top youth prospect by both Tottenham and England, and is starring for Spurs Under-16s this season.”

Williams-Barnett is now playing for the Under-18s and already looks head and shoulders above his peers.

He has registered an impressive eight goals and three assists from just seven Under-18 Premier League games.

Williams-Barnett is also in the England Under-17 picture and has won five caps, scoring once.
