Tottenham Hotspur always knew they would be up against it at Rams Park, however, Ange Postecoglou’s side looked beyond nervy as Galatasaray ripped them apart.

Somehow the scoreline ended up a respectable 3-2 to the Turkish giants but in truth, the hosts could have had seven or eight goals on Thursday evening as Spurs kept shooting themselves in the foot.

It was a disastrous performance from Tottenham, whose perfect start to the European campaign was brought to an abrupt halt.

Will Lankshear had an incredibly mixed evening as on just his second senior start he scored his first goal but ended up being shown a red card for a second yellow.

Tottenham player ratings vs Galatasaray

Fraser Forster – 3

Tottenham must look to sign a second-choice goalkeeper in January following Fraser Forster’s display in Istanbul. The former Southampton shot-stopper made some decent saves but also had several calamitous moments.

Pedro Porro – 3

Pedro Porro has often shown an inability to defend but the number of times he lost his attacker was truly shocking. The Spaniard did set up Solanke’s goal with a nice assist.

Radu Dragusin – 1

It couldn’t really have been a worse performance from Radu Dragusin. No red card or own goal, but his performance was just that bad. Defensively he looked completely lost and his ability on the ball was close to Sunday League standard.

Ben Davies – 3

Ben Davies wasn’t much better than his defensive partner with some shocking passing and poor defensive moments. His display along with Dragusin’s shows another central defender might be needed in January.

Archie Gray – 5

Archie Gray did OK and was just about the best of Tottenham’s starters, especially considering he was playing left-back. Played a superb ball to Brennan Johnson for Lankshear’s goal.

Lucas Bergvall – 2

An alarming display from Lucas Bergvall. Yes, he is only 18, but he looked so far out of his depth. The young Swede kept getting caught on the ball and was hooked early into the second half.

Yves Bissouma – 4

Another senior player who went missing was Yves Bissouma. No composure on the ball and was often caught ball-chasing. He did look better when subs came on but was generally poor.

James Maddison – 3

James Maddison showed exactly the reason why Postecoglou no longer fancies him and why he can’t get in the England squad. Tottenham needed their vice-captain and he was non-existent in Turkey.

Brennan Johnson – 3

Johnson set up Lankshear’s goal well with a nice first-time pass, however, it was a very poor evening for the 23-year-old.

Will Lankshear – 2

Lankshear’s special evening ended in dramatic fashion as he was sent off for a second yellow card. The youngster scored his first senior goal in just his second appearance for the club. But aside from the goal and red card, it was a very quiet evening for the 19-year-old and he looked nervy every time he got the ball.

Heung-min Son – 3

When Tottenham needed their captain to step up in a hostile atmosphere and lead the team, Heung-min Son looked like one of the most panicked players on the pitch. The South Korean was hooked at half-time.

Substitutes

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Rodrigo Bentancur helped Spurs regain control in the midfield as the team made a late surge to rescue a point.

Dejan Kulusevski – 6

Dejan Kulusevski also added some life back into the team and produced some good moments on a bad evening for Tottenham.

Dominic Solanke – 7

Dominic Solanke followed his brilliant brace in the win over Aston Villa with a wonderful flick for another goal in Turkey.

Pape Matar Sarr – 6

Pape Matar Sarr did well when he came on and like Bentancur, helped them to get a foothold back in the game.
