Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to take a step closer to the Carabao Cup as they prepare to face Manchester City in North London.

Spurs have blown hot and cold this season, delivering some superb performances but also serving up some very disappointing displays.

Tottenham will be keen on bouncing back from their shock loss at Crystal Palace, arguably their worst display of the season.

Spurs will be up against a Man City side who will be extremely dangerous even if Pep Guardiola names a weakened XI as he has hinted.

The Spurs News looks at who Ange Postecoglou could name in his starting XI in Wednesday’s 8:15pm kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs captain Son Heung-min is nearing a return from injury but Postecoglou told football.london that the Man City game comes too soon for the skipper.

Meanwhile, Wilson Odobert – another option on the left wing – had a setback during the week that the Tottenham boss said looked “serious”.

On a brighter note, Postecoglou said “everyone else is okay” and confirmed that Djed Spence is back in training.

Ange Postecoglou tipped to drop Mikey Moore with Timo Werner named on the left

Tottenham could potentially name Fraser Forster in goal in wake of his solid display against AZ, but we feel Postecoglou will opt for Guglielmo Vicario against the Citizens.

Spurs are likely to make numerous changes in outfield. We feel the experienced Ben Davies will be given the nod at left-back, while Radu Dragusin could replace Micky van de Ven.

Pedro Porro is likely to keep his place at right-back, while Cristian Romero could remain in the starting XI and partner Dragusin at centre-back.

In midfield, we feel there will be two changes, with Yves Bissouma and £170,000-a-week James Maddison making way for Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Patar Sarr.

Dejan Kulusevski, one of Spurs’ most in-form players this season, should keep his place.

And finally we come to the front three. Postecoglou has a dilemma over who to start on the left, with Son and Odobert unavailable.

Although Mikey Moore is available, we feel the Spurs boss won’t start him for the third time in the space of a week. Timo Werner is likely to take his place.

Richarlison is also an option on the left, but we feel he’ll get the nod at centre-forward, with Dominic Solanke given a rest, and Brennan Johnson is likely to stay put on the right.
