Tottenham might loan out £45m player this summer if they are relegated to the Championship

Tottenham Hotspur could very soon be planning for life playing Championship football.

The arrival of Roberto De Zerbi has lifted spirits in North London, but after a defeat to Sunderland in his first game in charge, Spurs could only manage a draw at home to Brighton, too.

A number of players will likely leave in the event of relegation and now the future of Micky van de Ven has come into the spotlight, with an intriguing possibility being mooted should Championship football be on the fixture list for Tottenham next season.

Tottenham might loan Micky van de Ven out

It’s fair to say that if Tottenham are relegated, the Dutch defender will be one of the first players which the club are fielding calls.

It’s been claimed by FourFourTwo that Van de Ven is already preparing to leave Tottenham in the summer and perhaps has his eyes elsewhere already.

Tottenham will only let him leave on their terms, however, and in a further twist, it’s been suggested that Spurs might prefer to loan Van de Ven in the event of getting him back should promotion be secured at the first attempt.

Van de Ven has been instrumental for Tottenham over the years since his move from Wolfsburg, proving himself as the quickest defender in the Premier League.

The 19-time international has made 91 appearances for Spurs in all competitions, but it would appear as though reaching a century of outings might not happen, with Van de Ven already checking out at Tottenham to a certain extent.

There is going to be a lot of uncertainty in the summer at Tottenham, and the future of Van de Ven looks like an immediate priority for De Zerbi to sort out.
