Tottenham Hotspur are staring down the barrel of an embarrassing relegation to the Championship this season.

During 2024/25, Tottenham fans didn’t think things could get any worse, but with the Premier League far more competitive this time around, the fact that the club are 18th is deeply concerning.

Should Spurs get relegated from the Premier League, it would be deeply shameful, and it would be fascinating to see what sort of players they would have available.

Chief Tottenham journalist Alasdair Gold believes that one former striker would jump at the chance to return to North London, whether the club remain in the Premier League or not.

Troy Parrott would fancy Tottenham return

Parrott never really got a fair crack of the whip at Tottenham last time he was at the club, but since his departure, his career has gone on an upward trajectory.

The Republic of Ireland striker is currently playing for AZ Alkmaar, where he has bagged 30 goals from 45 appearances in all competitions this season.

Alasdair Gold has explained on his YouTube channel that Parrott would be keen to return to the club even if they’re relegated this season.

“From what I understand, even if Spurs go down, Parrott would still strongly consider, let’s say even go I’d say would be keen on coming back to the club just because he’s got a lot of affection for AZ. if he’s going to go anywhere, of course, he would love Spurs to come back in for him because he just wants the chance to show what he could do in that shirt”

Signing Parrott back is a romantic notion, but even if Tottenham get relegated, there will be a desire to see top players added to the ranks for a promotion push.

Parrott’s goal record in Holland speaks for itself, and there is little doubting that he knows where the back of the net is.

However, Tottenham would want to sign players who can not only help the club return to the Premier League but also remain there following promotion too.

Whether Parrott is capable of ever producing the goods in the Premier League remains to be seen, and it will be fascinating to see if Tottenham do choose to bring him back in the summer.
