As the second international break has arrived, it is time to reflect on how Tottenham Hotspur’s loan stars are getting on in the early part of the season.
The North London club currently have eight first-team players out on loan and some are getting on better than others.
Luka Vuskovic is having a great loan spell out in Belgium having earned big praise from his manager, Bryan Gil has just earned his first recall to the Spanish national team in three years whilst Ashley Phillips is not having the best of loan spells so far. Here’s how Spurs’ eight loanees are all getting on.

Tottenham stars out on loan for the 2024/25 season
Luka Vuskovic
Luka Vuskovic is continuing to impress on loan at Westerlo and in his last outing the defender managed to score a brace. The 17-year-old now has four goals to his name this season as he continues his impressive goal-scoring streak from his previous loan spell at Radomiak Radom where he netted three times in 14 appearances.
After the 2-2 draw against Beerschot and his two goals, Vuskovic earned big praise from Westerlo’s manager Timmy Simons who said: “Luka [Vuskovic] is a phenomenon. He is so calm on the ball and sets the pace. He has such good feet for a 17-year-old.”

Bryan Gil
Bryan Gil’s form for Girona saw him earn a recall to the Spanish national team for the first time in three years. However, an injury meant that he was forced to drop out and was replaced by Ferran Torres.
But his call-up to Luis de la Fuente’s European champions squad is a great indication of how his loan in La Liga is going. Gil has just one goal involvement to his name, but he has become a key player for the Spanish club making seven starts out of a possible 11.

Ashley Phillips
Ashley Phillips’ loan spell at Stoke isn’t exactly going to plan with the defender having made just three appearances so far this season. Tottenham will be assessing their options and could decide to recall him if he continues to sit on the bench.
Although in all three appearances, he was a starter, Stoke won all three matches and he helped keep clean sheets in each of them.
Phillips has just been named in the England Under-20 squad alongside Luca Gunter, Will Lankshear and Dane Scarlett for games against Italy and the Czech Republic.
Alfie Devine
Alfie Devine is currently on loan with Vusklovic at Westerlo and the midfielder is so far enjoying a successful loan spell in Belgium.
The 20-year-old has quickly become a regular for the Belgian Pro League side having started in each of the last three matches.
Dane Scarlett
Dane Scarlett is having to be patient waiting for regular game time at Oxford United. The striker has made just one start which came in the EFL Cup.
Scarlett is yet to make a start in the Championship and has played just 59 minutes of league football so far. He is another player Spurs will need to assess in January.
Jamie Donley
Jamie Donley has made five starts in League One with Leyton Orient since making the move across London. The 19-year-old started in the O’s 3-2 defeat away at Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
Donley’s manager Richie Wellens has been full of praise for him claiming he has what it takes to play at the highest level.
