Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly held ‘positive talks’ with club captain Heung-min Son over a new contract already.

Heung-min Son will have just a year left on his deal come the summer after putting pen to paper on fresh terms back in July 2021.

The Tottenham skipper has shown no signs of slowing down and has rediscovered his best form in front of goal under Ange Postecoglou this term.

Such is his importance to this current Spurs side, that there has been plenty of talk over a possible new deal for our skipper.

And Paul O Keefe has shared an update on Tottenham’s talks over fresh terms for Son.

Son has held ‘positive talks’ over new Tottenham deal

O Keefe took to X on Tuesday morning and responded to fan asking about Son’s contract.

He wrote: “Yes. They’ve had positive talks a few times already.”

Tottenham do have the option to extend Son’s contract by a further year. But recent reports seem to point towards a more long-term arrangement.

Son would certainly be deserving of fresh terms and despite the fact he’ll turn 32 this summer, the £22 million man continues to provide for Spurs.

The South Korean star has netted 12 goals in the league this term while providing six assists. But it’s not only his contributions in the final third that make him such an important part of Postecoglou’s squad.

Son has stepped up and proven to be a brilliant captain after Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris’ departures.

Handing Son a new contract seems like a no-brainer and we certainly hope to see movement on that end before the summer.

It would appear that Tottenham are making progress already and Son seems to be enjoying life under Postecoglou, so there shouldn’t be any issues when it comes to his desire to extend.
