Tottenham Hotspur have recruited well this summer, bringing in a host of exciting players for the present and future.

One of the most exciting signings made by Spurs is that of Archie Gray, one of the best young players in English football.

At just 18 years of age, Gray clocked up over 50 competitive appearances for Leeds United, helping them reach last season’s Championship playoff final.

Tottenham reportedly agreed a £40million package to sign Gray, and if all goes well, that fee could look like a bargain in the coming years.

Gray has already made his senior debut for Spurs after being heavily involved in pre-season.

The youngster’s quality and potential has caught the eye of the media, with Sky Sports running an in-depth feature article about him this week.

Archie Gray deemed ‘special’ and likened to Zinedine Zidane

Andy Wright, Gray’s former academy coach at Leeds, said the midfielder reminded him of one of the game’s best ever playmakers.

He said: “I remember games where I came away thinking, ‘God, he reminds me of Zidane’. He would do things that you don’t expect.”

Meanwhile, Leeds cult hero Stuart Dallas shared an anecdote in which he recalled the exact moment he realised Gray was cut from a different cloth.

“Archie would do one part of his gym programme and then went to do his education,” he said.

“By the time his education finished, every other player was gone.

“I returned in the evening with my kids who were at the pre-academy and Archie was back in the gym finishing off his programme.

“Anybody else would have been gone, there were no staff in, but he was in.

“That showed me that he’s different, he’s special and he’s going to go on to bigger and better things.”

Tottenham pull offer another coup in the rising star market

Tottenham reportedly beat Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to Gray’s signature.

This shows how appealing Spurs have become to rising stars after they also signed Lucas Bergvall and Radu Dragusin.

It’ll be exciting to see how Gray continues to develop, but everything so far points to him being the complete package who’s on the way to stardom.
