One of Tottenham Hotspur’s former players has just gone away to the Santiago Bernabeu, beaten Real Madrid and locked up one of Europe’s best attackers in Vinicius Junior.
Ange Postecoglou sold this player last summer and the majority of Spurs’ supporters were not particularly big fans of him.
Now he has just silenced many of them with an astute performance against a player who looked destined to win the Ballon d’Or before Rodri clenched the award.

Emerson Royal shuts down Vinicius Junior in AC Milan win
That player is of course Emerson Royal and despite giving away a penalty, the Brazilian produced a very solid display against Real Madrid.
AC Milan stunned Real Madrid in the Champions League as they won 3-1 away in the Spanish capital to inflict a second defeat in the group stages on Los Blancos.
Milan stunned the Bernabeu with an early goal as they took the lead through Malick Thiaw who powered home a header.
Vinicius then pulled the hosts level as he scored from the penalty spot after Madrid were controversially awarded a spot-kick following a harsh call on Emerson. However, they were not level for long as goals from Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders secured the win.
After giving away a penalty, Emerson didn’t put a foot wrong despite being up against one of the best attackers in Europe. The former Tottenham man’s performance against Madrid deserves big credit.
How is Emerson Royal doing at AC Milan?
Emerson is quietly putting together a solid campaign in Italy with a string of strong performances for the Rossoneri. The Brazilian has recently featured in wins over Madrid, Inter Milan, Club Brugge, Lecce and Udinese.
Emerson’s performance against Inter was particularly impressive as Milan stunned their bitter rivals and Italian champions in the away fixture.
Milan are only sat in seventh place in Serie A but are five points off the top four with a game in hand over all the teams around them. Their win over Madrid also puts them in a strong position in the Champions League as they are just a point off the top eight, having played a game more though.
