Tottenham fans have been reacting to Cristian Romero’s performance vs Canada as his Argentina side reached the Copa America final.
Cristian Romero has played a key role in Argentina’s Copa America defence, with the Tottenham defender only missing one game on route to the final.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful season in North London, striking up one of the league’s toughest centre-back partnerships alongside Micky van de Ven.
Romero has taken to life under Ange Postecoglou with ease, becoming one of the first names on the team sheet under the Aussie.
The Spurs man has also become a key figure in Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad, starting five out of six Copa America fixtures so far, only being rested for their last group game against Peru.

Romero’s performances at the Copa America have garnered the defender some high praise, with former Argentina and Barcelona star, Javier Mascherano recently describing the Spurs man as “one of the best centre-backs in the world.”
Slotting in at centre-back alongside Lisandro Martinez, Romero has formed a formidable partnership with the Manchester United man – only conceding two goals so far in the tournament.
The pair’s strong partnership was on show yet again in the semi-final vs Canada, with Argentina shutting out Canada in a 2-0 win.
Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez put La Albiceleste in front before the half-time whistle, followed by a second from Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.
Romero played the full 90 minutes and was widely praised for his defensive display, with ESPN describing his performance as “strong” in their player ratings.
The Tottenham man’s attention will now turn to the final on 15th July, with Argentina set to face either Uruguay or Colombia as they look to retain their Copa America crown.

Spurs fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise their star defender for reaching another major final with his country.
Supporters also took the chance to mock rivals Arsenal, as their defender William Saliba was knocked out of Euro 2024.
“How many players in world football right now are better than Cristian Romero? Not many, if any,” one fan said.
Another fan added “Cristian Romero – Lisandro Martinez, the world’s best CB pair.”
“Cristian Romero you are a work of art,” a third fan added.
Someone else commented “Just a reminder that Cristian Romero did THIS (tackle Mbappe) in a World Cup final. Cry more, Saliba and Arsenal fans!”
