Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against Manchester City in the fourth round of the League Cup.

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs will host Pep Guardiola’s Citizens at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the pick of the ties.

The draw was made on Wednesday evening, after the conclusion of the third-round’s originally scheduled ties.

As far as ties go, Tottenham are now up against arguably the toughest opponent they could’ve drawn.

However, Spurs have an advantage in that they’ll be playing at home against the reigning Premier League champions.

Here is what Tottenham fans have been saying on social media about the draw.

Tottenham fans bemused but not surprised

Guardiola may have just given Tottenham hope

Guardiola recently said Man City won’t “waste energy” on the League Cup amid a congested schedule that the club “cannot handle”.

The Spaniard made nine changes to the line-up that faced Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday and managed to secure a narrow 2-1 win over Watford.

“The next round, I announce to you, I will play the second team,” he said, as per Goal.com. “We are not going to waste energy, for sure.

“The schedule is the schedule, we cannot handle it anyway.

“Today for [James] McAtee, Matheus [Nunes], Jack [Grealish], Phil [Foden], who didn’t play [against Arsenal], the young lad, 16 years old, it’s perfect.”

With that in mind, along with Rodri being out for the season, the Citizens may not be quite as formidable when they go up with Tottenham (hopefully).
