Lee Carsley makes England decision over James Maddison

Maddison has not been included in Lee Carsley’s latest England squad, according to the Athletic. The midfielder has been in great form for Tottenham and was key in helping them beat Manchester United.

However, the 28-year-old has once again missed out on the Three Lions’ squad for games against Greece and Finland. Maddison has been used in a new role by Ange Postecolou playing in a new deeper, left-sided role in Tottenham’s midfield.

Meanwhile, his club teammate Dominic Solanke has been named in the England squad for the first time since 2017. The striker has made a great start to life in North London having scored three goals in his last three appearances.

Tottenham fans react to James Maddison’s bad news

Tottenham fans are unhappy with Carsley’s decision to leave Maddison out of the squad, however, it does mean one good thing. Spurs fans have taken to X to share their feelings about the call.

A Tottenham fan couldn’t believe the decision not to include the midfielder, stating: “Maddison not in is crazy, been in great form.”

Morgan Rodgers was another shock not making the squad: “James Maddison should have had a place, in my opinion, on Lee Carsley’s list. Although Morgan Rogers’ first two months were worthy of a call-up, the Aston Villa man still has some work to do. But the Tottenham ’10’ has recovered his best form,” a neutral fan claimed.
