Tottenham Hotspur are set to return to the Europa League for the 24/25 season. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the competition.
Ange Postecoglou enjoyed a successful first season in charge of Tottenham, transforming Spurs into one of the Premier League’s most exciting teams.
The 2024/25 season however will present new challenges for the Aussie boss, as the Lilywhites make their return to European football.
Tottenham’s fifth-place finish last season means they will enter the Europa League for the first time since 2021, being joined in the competition by Premier League rivals Manchester United, who secured their spot thanks to their FA Cup win.
So with that said, here’s a look at all the key information you need to know ahead of competition.

When is the Europa League Group Stage Draw 24/25?
The first Europa League group stage draw will take place on the 30th of August 2024 at 12pm (UK time). This is where Tottenham Hotspur will find out which sides will they’ll be facing in the league phase of the competition.
What is the new about the Europa League format?
UEFA have revamped their club competitions for the start of the 2024/25 campaign and Tottenham will now take part in a new format of the group stages.
Spurs will now play in a 36-team League stage which will see Postecoglou’s men play four games at home and four games away to earn themselves a spot in the knockout stages.
The top eight sides will proceed to the round of 16; whilst the teams from ninth to 24th will compete in a play-off style format to earn a spot in the knockout stages.
No Champions League sides will drop out of the elite competition into the Europa League.
What pot will Tottenham be drawn from in 2024/25 Europa League?
The competition’s pots are yet to be confirmed and will be completed following the addition of 12 Europa League play-off winners later this month, plus the seven Champions League play-off losers.
Tottenham will be drawn from pot one alongside Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United and Scottish giants Rangers. Spurs also could face off against former boss Jose Mourinho, following Fenerbahce’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Where is the 2024/25 Europa League final?
The 2024/25 Europa League final will take place in Bilbao, Spain at the home of Athletic Club, Estadio de San Mames.
With a capacity of 53,289, each side should be allocated a considerable number of tickets for the final at a stadium which only opened up in 2013.
Athletic Club were able to end their 40-year trophy drought last season – something Spurs will also be hoping to do this time around.
What do the Europa League winners get?
Alongside the Europa League trophy, the 2024/25 winners will also earn themselves a spot in the League stage of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. That is, if they haven’t qualified via domestic competitions.
