This saw him excused and he only had to do three weeks of military service instead. He did his military service during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Premier League football was postponed.

Tottenham bought Son in 2015 from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and he was someone unknown to most of the Premier League. At the time, the attacker was 23 years old and Spurs signed him from the German club for £18million.
