Tottenham Hotspur won the race to sign Lucas Bergvall back in February as the North London club convinced him to join them over FC Barcelona.
Spurs landed the midfielder in a deal worth around £17 million including bonuses from the Swedish top-flight club, Djurgardens.
The 18-year-old signed for the Lilywhites on February 2 and spent the remainder of the season back on loan in his home country.
Barca made a strong push to land Bergvall, however, it was Tottenham’s project that convinced him to sign for Ange Postecoglou’s team and here’s why he made that decision.

Ange Postecoglou’s strong football philosophy impresses Bergvall
Bergvall was left impressed by Postecoglou’s strong belief in his style of football following their meeting, according to the Evening Stanard.
Postecoglou has made it very clear whilst at Tottenham that he is a strong believer in his style of football and he will never adapt how he sets up his team. No opponent, run of form or match situation will deter the Australian head coach from playing his attacking brand of football.
Spurs wanted a manager who would bring an attacking style to N17 and in the 59-year-old, they certainly appointed the right man. This zealous belief in his methods was infectious enough to convince Bergvall he was the coach to be working with.
Bergvall boweled over by Hotspur Way
Hotspur Way and the new stadium were also big selling points for Bergvall who was left boweled away by the club’s facilities, as per the report.
Working every day at a facility like the Enfield-based HQ would be a major attraction for any player and is a key reason why it was built.
In addition, playing in front of over 62,000 supporters at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is another strong draw, with the ground being one of the best in Europe.
Dejan Kulusevski sells Spurs’ project to Bergvall
His fellow countryman Dejan Kulusevski was also another big factor in him signing for the Premier League club with the Swede selling the project to him.
The 24-year-old showed great enthusiasm for Tottenham’s project and this really sold the idea of being a part of Postecoglou’s squad to the teenager.
Kulusveski’s record-breaking display against Manchester United showed why Postecoglou has made the former Juventus man a key part of his Spurs squad. He will now be hoping his Swedish teammate can join him as a key member in the near future.
