Thomas Frank will have a selection dilemma for the Aston Villa clash as Tottenham injury news has emerged ahead of the FA Cup clash.

Lucas Bergvall picked up an injury as Tottenham lost 3-2 to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Frank will be hoping that fortunes change for his side when they take on a high-flying Aston Villa side at home on Saturday.

Thomas Frank issues Lucas Bergvall injury update

Bergvall has struggled with multiple injuries this season and could not play the full game against the Cherries.

While he walked off the pitch and did not need any assistance, this did not appear to be a decent sight for Spurs.

However, Frank provided a worrying update on the Sweden international, stating that it was not ideal for him to be taken off twice in four games.

He said: “My initial thought is probably not top with Lucas, when he is off second time (in four games).”

This surely suggests that the game against Aston Villa will come too soon for the winger.

While Rodrigo Bentancur was also taken off against Bournemouth, it remains to be seen if that was enough to rule him out of contention.

Four players who are certainly injured and will be missing the game are James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus.

While Maddison and Kulusevski are longer-term absences, Solanke and Kudus will not be ready for the game against Aston Villa.

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are both ruled out as they are away on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.

Will Frank look to rest his players in the FA Cup?

It remains to be seen how seriously Frank takes this game, as it could be one that could get the pressure off his back.

Alternatively, he may want to give some of his key players a breather and get them back in the best spirits for the Premier League.

Spurs have shown a lot of faith in their academy prospects in recent years, so this could be a game for a few of them to show Frank why they deserve more minutes.
