Cristian Romero has released a rather damning statement against Tottenham Hotspur’s hierarchy following the club’s defeat against Bournemouth.

The defender has taken full responsibility for the 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth, but suggested that the North London club’s hierarchy rarely speaks up.

Fill in the blank: Tottenham should ___________ Thomas Frank after losing to Bournemouth…

Would you sack or back the Dane?

Spurs handed Bournemouth their first win in 12 Premier League matches on Wednesday, and that caused a very disgruntled away end at the Vitality Stadium.

There is an acceptance from supporters that, whilst the coaching and playing staff might not be good enough, the issues in N17 run deeper.

Cristian Romero calls out Tottenham’s board, Pedro Porro agrees

Cristian Romero believes that for years, Tottenham Hotspur’s ownership has only spoken up when things are going well in North London.

Vinai Venkatesham, Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange were all in attendance at the Vitality, watching on as Thomas Frank’s team slipped to another defeat.

The Argentine captain is adamant that the team will try to turn the situation around; however, he has called for support from the board.

After the 3-2 defeat, Romero wrote on Instagram: “Apologies to all fans who follow us everywhere, who are always there and will continue to be. We are responsible, there’s no doubt about that. I am the first.

Fill in the blank: _________ should be captain of Tottenham

How do you feel about Romero as Spurs captain?

“But we will keep facing up to it and trying to turn the situation around, for ourselves and for the club. At times like this, it should be other people coming out to speak, but they don’t as has been happening for several years now. They only show up when things are going well.

“We’ll stay here, working, sticking together and giving our all to turn things around. Especially at times like this, keeping quiet, working harder and moving forward all together, is part of football. All together, it will be easier.”

Meanwhile, in the comments, Pedro Porro added: “Amen. Keep going, brother. We have a lot of battles left.”

The 27-year-old has called out the club’s hierarchy in the past, and following his contract signing in the summer, he now holds a fair amount of power.

Spurs’ decision makers now face another big decision over their manager, whether to sack him or to back him in the January transfer window.

Micky van de Ven confronts Tottenham fans

Following the defeat, Micky van de Ven confronted Tottenham’s away fans for booing in the aftermath.

The Dutch defender was clearly unhappy with the reaction from several supporters and made his feelings clear.

Porro also went over to the away end, as did Joao Palhinha, which is a worrying sign of disconnect between the players and fans.

The Spurs supporters were in fine voice on the South Coast and had every right to express their frustrations towards the team and manager.
