The FA Cup second-round draw has just taken place – but Tottenham Hotspur didn’t feature. This begs the question, when will Spurs come into the tournament?

Ange Postecoglou will want silverware in his first season at Tottenham Hotspur – meaning the FA Cup could be a seriously valuable competition for the Aussie manager.

Tottenham unfortunately exited the Carabao Cup earlier this season. They lost to Fulham on penalties. this means the FA Cup will be the only knockout competition left for them in the 23/24 season.

The Premier League is obviously the ideal prize, but the FA Cup certainly wouldn’t be bad either. So when can we expect to see Spurs in action?

When do Tottenham play in the FA Cup?

You can expect to see Ange Postecoglou’s men enter the FA Cup during the third round.

This is when the 44 clubs from the Premier League and Championship, the first and second tiers of English football, enter. They join the 20 winners from the previous round.

This is really when the competition starts to heat up. After this, there are only five games between the club and FA Cup glory.

When does the third round of the FA Cup take place?

Judging from previous years, the fixtures will be played between the 6th and the 9th of January 2024.

This means that Postecoglou only has to concentrate on the Premier League for the remainder of 2023 – which definitely gives them an advantage over other top-flight sides.

When will be the draw for the FA Cup 23/24 third round?

Judging from the position of the fixtures and taking into account last year’s draw, this will likely take place on Monday the 4th of December 2023.

This is just after the conclusion of Round Two’s fixtures, which take place on the Saturday the 2nd of December 2023.

Last year’s draw followed a similar pattern, with the games played on the weekend and the draw on the Monday.

64 teams will be in the pot. But who will Tottenham Hotspur face?
