Tottenham Hotspur get back to action on Saturday as they host Brentford in a 3pm kick-off in the Premier League.
Spurs will be eager to make amends for last weekend’s loss in the North London derby and will hope that the League Cup win over Coventry City will act as a springboard for success.
The Spurs News has compiled what four of the nation’s biggest match-predicting pundits have said about Tottenham ahead of their game against Brentford.

Alan Shearer
Alan Shearer backed Tottenham to win in his latest Metro column, though he did not provide a scoreline.
“I was hugely impressed with Brentford against Man City, particularly in the first 40 minutes and again they’ll make it difficult for Spurs here,” he wrote.
I really like Thomas Frank as a manager. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him in the summer at the Euros and I was really impressed with the way he spoke and his ideas. He’s an impressive guy and doing a great job at Brentford.
Unfortunately for them, it looks as if Wissa is going to be injured for a while which is a big blow, so I’m going to go for a Spurs win.
Paul Merson
Paul Merson, writing on Sportskeeda, has backed Tottenham to run out 2-1 winners against Brentford.
“I was very disappointed with Tottenham last week and they were also fortunate to go through to the next round of the Carabao Cup,” Merson wrote in his column for Sportskeeda.
“I’d have really fancied Brentford to get the win here, but Yoane Wissa will be a massive miss for them. That injury to him is a huge loss for Brentford.
“Without Wissa in that team, I’d back Tottenham to beat Brentford. Bryan Mbeumo on his own won’t be enough to beat Spurs.
“Ange Postecoglou has to win this match to take some pressure off him. Spurs are in a little league of their own and how they perform against the teams in that group will define their season.
“The defeat to Arsenal would have hurt them badly considering the magnitude of the fixture, but they have to put that behind them and get the win against Brentford.”
Chris Sutton
Chris Sutton, writing on BBC Sport, has also backed Tottenham to run out 2-1 winners against Thomas Frank’s side.
“This is a tricky game for Spurs and no-one is surprised anymore by the organisation we saw from Brentford against Manchester City last week,” began Sutton. “Or how devastating they were when they got a chance early on.
“But the Bees are without Yoane Wissa after his injury at Etihad Stadium, and he is a big miss for them.
“My worry for Spurs at the moment is that, this season, they have not been as clinical or creative with the final pass when they get in the final third of the pitch as they have been previously under Ange.
“They will have to be better at that here, but they are at home and I am backing them to get over the line.”

Ray Parlour
Ray Parlour, speaking on talkSPORT, completes a hat-trick of pundits – those who have provided scorelines – predicting Tottenham to win 2-1 against Brentford.
“This is a big game for Spurs, it really is,” he said (20/9/2024, 7:41am). “They are expected to win.
“Brentford were very good in the first 25 minutes last week against Manchester City, probably scored too early.
“Spurs didn’t really look like scoring against Arsenal, but Arsenal have got a very, very strong defence.
“I am going to go Spurs to win this one. I am going to go Spurs 2-1 Brentford, and I will go, he is going to get a goal sooner or later, Solanke.”

Tottenham v Brentford team news
Postecoglou confirmed to the Tottenham media team on Friday that summer signing Wilson Odobert has suffered a hamstring injury and it “doesn’t look good”.
Spurs must wait for his injury to settle down before they can get more information, but he will “definitely be out for the next period”.
Meanwhile, Richarlison is out long-term, while Yves Bissouma and Timo Werner have trained and are expected to be available.
As for the Bees, there are no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Spurs, as reported by journalist Sam Tabuteau.
Paris Maghoma will join full session training on Monday, while Rico Henry will return to part-time training on the same day.
As for Mathias Jensen, Thomas Frank admitted he’s “a little more in doubt” with regards to when he’ll be back.
