Roberto De Zerbi has been tasked with reviving Tottenham, and that has left one Premier League manager feeling somewhat surprised.
It’s been a season of turbulence for Tottenham, with the club currently in the relegation zone with just five matches of the season left to play.
Tottenham began the season with Ange Postecoglou being replaced by Thomas Frank, but he was sacked in February and replaced by Igor Tudor.
The Croatian was unable to revive the club’s fortunes and a 3-0 reverse to Nottingham Forest saw Spurs make another change, with De Zerbi now the man in the hot seat.
Now, it’s come to light that another Premier League boss thought he was in line for the Tottenham gig.

Marco Silva thought he was in line for Tottenham job
An article from iNews has been discussing the future of Silva, who is set to see his contract expire at Fulham in the summer.
It’s believed that the Portuguese manager is keen to manage in Europe and feels that he was among the contenders for the Tottenham job when it became available.
Silva has been at Fulham for a number of years, but clearly the club’s ambitions don’t quite match his own, and perhaps a departure will be inevitable.
It’s hard to imagine that too many Spurs fans will be getting too eaten up that the club chose De Zerbi over Silva, but only time will tell if the right decision has been made.
Silva is an extremely safe pair of hands when it comes to managing in the Premier League and it will be fascinating to see if he gets a top job at some point in the future.
Spurs, at least for now, look well set with De Zerbi and Silva might have to wonder what might have been when it comes to ever managing Tottenham.
