Tottenham Hotspur have now seen one of their injured players return to training ahead of their game on Saturday against Luton Town.

This season has provided the Lilywhites a number of different challenges to overcome.

A new manager, no Harry Kane, but by far the biggest has been the injury issues which have just piled up over the course of the term.

Ange Postecoglou’s men have dealt well with their injuries, on the whole, but it looks like they’ve been handed a boost ahead of their game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Micky van de Ven injury news

During the emphatic victory over Aston Villa earlier in the month, Micky van de Ven sustained another hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old was forced to be replaced by Radu Dragusin for the majority of the second half at Villa Park.

According to Paul O Keefe, the Dutchman has returned to training this week following his hamstring issue.

However, this is not to say he will be returning for the game on Saturday with Postecoglou likely having to manage Van de Ven’s workload.

When could Van de Ven return?

Postecoglou is talking to the media later today from Hotspur Way, so he will provide a more detailed explanation on Van de Ven’s return.

But the injury has presented an opportunity for Dragusin to finally get some proper minutes under his belt.

Having rejected the likes of Bayern Munich and Napoli to join the Lilywhites in the January window, it has not been an easy ride for the Romanian.

His first start against Fulham did not go the way anyone will have wanted, but he should be given the opportunity to put things right against Luton.

Postecoglou has been a huge admirer of Van de Ven this season, having hailed him as having no ceiling to his potential.

He said: “Micky’s been outstanding all year. And he’s growing all the time, we see it in training, the growth in him, his maturity, his ability, his physical capacity. There’s just no ceiling for that guy.”

However, Spurs also have a game on Tuesday night against West Ham United and then again on Sunday against Nottingham Forest.

Although the Dutchman has shown his quality, there is no need to rush him back into the side.

Spurs fans have already seen his issues with hamstring injuries, surely he needs some time to fully recover.
