Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been quick to praise Micky van de Ven following Saturday’s victory.

Three vital points were earned by the Lilywhites against Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And it is apparent the performance of Micky van de Ven impressed Ange Postecoglou massively.

Postecoglou praises Van de Ven

Having gone down in the first half and needing treatment from the medical staff, the Dutchman left many in N17 concerned.

Another potential injury to the 22-year-old is not what Spurs could do with following his lengthy absence over the winter.

But Van de Ven was able to continue and he put in a huge shift at the back for Spurs to keep the visitors quiet.

Palace ended the game having had just one shot on target – which found the back of the net – and an xG of just 0.29.

And Postecoglou told the club journalists just how impressed he was with his Dutch defender.

When asked about Van de Ven being tested against physical Jean-Philippe Mateta, he said: “I’m not sure about that. I think Mateta was tested physically [by Van de Ven]. Micky’s been outstanding all year. And he’s growing all the time, we see it in training, the growth in him, his maturity, his ability, his physical capacity. There’s just no ceiling for that guy.”

Van de Ven’s performance vs Palace

Van de Ven’s arrival to north London has been seamless with the 22-year-old already looking like one of the Premier League’s best.

His partnership with Cristian Romero is one which Spurs fans will be hoping can be the backbone of the side for years to come.

Although the Argentine got on the scoreboard against the Eagles, Van de Ven had a day to remember at the back.

Having been signed for up to £43m in the summer, Spurs certainly were taking a slight risk in signing the Dutchman.

He had only played one full season in the Bundesliga before arriving, but he looks like a natural fit in this Spurs backline.
